INSANITY DAY 5 & 6

Two Day Entry

Okay so I suck at this blogging thing but I will do my best to keep updating my journey through INSANITY. Mondays work out was pretty good and yesterdays was better!!! On Monday, I felt great afterwards and felt great throughout the day and night. I slept like a baby!!!

Yesterday I started feeling tightness in my left thigh. It was hurting throughout the day, night and again this morning. So I didn't work out this morning. I feel crumby when I don't work out but I didn't want to hurt my leg or strain it any more than I already have.

Yesterday's work out was AWESOME!!! It was 40 minutes of non-stop cardio. The only bother was my leg but other than that, I felt great!!!!

Talk about power and movement the whole time. I have my schedule set up as to when I am going to do my "make-up" work outs for last Friday and Saturday. I will work out my normal Friday morning and then while my husband does Friday night. Saturday morning I will do my normal Saturday work out. Breakfast with my girlfriends, visitng another friend and her newborn baby girl, Zoe, then home to work out, church, mom's restaurant to get food ready for bridal shower on Sunday and then UFC night!

Sunday I will probably do two work outs as well. Early morning. Gotta be at location (location is a secret and the Bride reads my blog. lol ) for BS early to set up and start cooking. I will probably do a second work out while my husband does his Sunday night.

I will post Week 2 pictures. Completely forgot to do a Week 1 pictures. I'm so ready to tackle this demon called weight gain and never see it again until we are pregnant, but that won't be for a few years.

Til Tomorrow!!!

Break Weekend

So this weekend we took my little brother to college. It was great to spend some time with my mom and sister on the ride up there. It's been a long time since we have gotten the chance for it to be us three again. It's always hard to be away from my husband but it's great to miss him.

I didn't workout on Friday because I wasn't feeling good and I slept through my alarm. We left at 1PM on Friday and got to Cedar Hill at around 5:30 PM because of traffic leaving town. It was crazy to see my baby brother becoming a man and being on his own. There are no words to describe how happy and proud of hi we are!!

We got back yesterday and I was so glad to have gotten to spend some time with my husband. We went to have dinner at Kublah Kai off of Westgreen and I-10. It was super good and I loved the atmosphere. We had a great time together! It has been a while since we have had a date night and we definitely needed it.

Then we decided to brave the mall on Tax free weekend and I got some great shirts at Old Navy and then we went to Marshall's and I got some great deals on workout pants. I needed some more that were capri style. I have thick legs/thighs and my inner thighs tend to rub together, which I HATE!!! k

So today is Sunday and we are just chillaxin' at the house and going to church this evening. We are going to exercise today. I'm going to update my pictures on Tuesday evening. I'm ready for some rest which is what I will be doing today, other than my work out, grocery shopping and church.

Now it's time to rest.

INSANITY DAY 4

Hola everyone!!!

Well this morning was day 4 and it was Cardio Recovery. Not one of my favorite DVDs but it helps so much to do these stretches in between the actual cardio DVDs. I slept really good last night. So good that I didn't want to get up this morning but Shawn T. was screaming in my ear, or so I was dreaming that he was. So I got up.

Today I'm feel really good. Getting alot done around the office and feeling energized. Tomorrow I will hopefully update in the morning or by phone sometime during the day. We are going to Dallas to take my baby brother to college. He is going to be a Freshman!!! We are sooo excited for him. He is going to do amazing things! Will definitely take pictures of our weekend away. Can't make this blog only about my journey through INSANITY.

Here is my menu for the day:

Breakfast: 1 1/2 cups of Total cereal, 1 tsp of sugar, 2% Milk, light strawberry yogurt
2nd Meal: 1/2 P sandwich on Honey Whole Wheat, 1 cup of Argentine green tea
Lunch: 1 cup of spiral noodles, ground turkey, tomoato sauce and a 1/2 cup of cucumber/tomato salad with veg oil/red wind vinegar
4th Meal: 1/2 P sandwich on Honey Whole Wheat, 1/2 cup of mixed, frozen fruit, 10 baby carrots w/fat free ranch
Dinner: 1 cup of spiral noodles, ground turkey, tomoato sauce and a 1/2 cup of cucumber/tomato salad with veg oil/red wind vinegar

So ultimately my goal doing this workout is to be healthier and be happier in the body that the good Lord gave me!

Will write more tomorrow! Ciao!

INSANITY DAY 3

Day 3

I woke up this morning feeling super tired and my body was exhausted but after I did my work out, I feel 10 times better.

Today I did Cardio Power and Resistance. The exercises on today's dvd were pretty tough and repeating them was hard. I decided to take some pictures of what I looked like after today's work out. Ha ha ha... I look funny.

This is my shirt in the front after my work out.

I tried to upload my shirt from the back but I kept getting disconnected from the internet. So I will try to upload it again tonight.

This what I look like at 5 am after a session of Insanity... Man I look tired.

So for my meals today...
Breakfast: (we had a meeting ) I had half of a sausage & cheese kolache and about half a cup of fruit
2nd Meal: Half of a PB sandwich on Honey Whole Wheat bread, 1/2 caramel rice cake, 1 cup of green tea (Argentine Yerba Mate)
Lunch: Roasted Chicken, 1/2 cup romaine lettuce, 10 slices of cucumber, lime juice, 1Tbsp of veggie oil, salt, 1/2 cup of Fetuccini Alfredo with broccoli, baked Tostitos and Pace Picante Sauce
4th Meal: Baby carrots, Fat Free Ranch dressing, 1/2 PB sandwich on Honey Whole Wheat bread
Dinner: (Same as Dinner) Roasted Chicken, 1/2 cup romaine lettuce, 10 slices of cucumber, lime juice, 1Tbsp of veggie oil, salt, 1/2 cup of Fetuccini Alfredo with broccoli
So far I feel pretty good today! It is 11:55 am, central time. I will probably eat at 12:30 pm today... I like to get away from my desk for at least 30 minutes a day... always need a break.
I am so ready for the weekend and ready to leave Houston, even if it is for a day. We are going to Dallas this weekend. By we, I mean me, my mom, older sister, younger brother and step-dad. Why are we going? We are taking my brother to college!!! He will be a Freshman this year at Northwood University! It is a business school and a Division II school in sports. He got an academic scholarship, but will be eligible for an athletic scholarship next year. He wasn't this year because by the time they saw him and signed him, the school had already maxed out theri athletic fund.
There will be more tomorrow as I continue my journey throuh INSANITY!!!

INSANITY DAY 2

So I got up this morning at 4:30 am... I was exhausted. Last night I went to bed at around 8:30 pm. I slept like a baby. My husband started P90X last night and all I have to say is more power to him. His workouts are between 45 minutes to about an hour and half long. No thank you!!!!
Today, mine was about 41 minutes.

This mornings work out was Plyometric Cardio Circuit. Interval training is killer. First you start off by going at a slow/regular pace. Then you rest for 20 seconds, damn thos are the quickest 20 seconds ever. Second, you do the same exercises but at a moderate/quicker pace, rest for 20 seconds. Third, you go as fast as you can with the exercises. Now keep in mind these are the same exercises every rotation. There are at least 5 exercises in the beginning.

Then comes the stretching part. Serious stretching but like "Shawn T" says, stretching is crucial when doing these exercises. And let me tell you, he is sooooo right. I made the mistake last time to half ass the training and I pulled a few things. lol

After the stretching part comes the serious stuff. There is about 20-25 minutes left at this point of the dvd and he uses up every minute!!! He did about 8-12 exercises and it goes the same way as the first part of the dvd. Slow, moderate, fast! As hard as I am breathing and seriously sweating, I feel so much better after I take a cold/warm shower.

Tonight I am going to post a picture of my lunch from yesterday and my breakfast from today.

Today's Menu:
Breakfast: Plain bagel, reduced fat walnut honey cream cheese, 8 oz. of apple juice
2nd Meal: Strawberry yogurt, 1/2 pb & j sandwich ( I just used creamy Jiff and strawberry preserves
Lunch: Tuna salad (1 can white albacore tuna, 1 1/2 Tbsp of mayo, 1 tsp of yellow mustard, 1 dill pickle, 1 hardboiled egg, 1 Tbsp of crumbled Feta cheese, salt, pepper to taste, 1 tsp of Valentina hot sauce on Honey Whole Wheat Bread, 1 sandwich bag of Baked Lays
4th Meal: 1 cup mixed, frozen fruit (strawberries, mango, pineapple and peaches), 1/2 pb & j (just like above)
Dinner: Roasted chicken, with Asian veggies, 1/2 cup of alfredo

Key is to drink lots of water!!!! I can't tell you how much water I drink in a day but I know not to over do it. I try to drink juice(OJ or Apple or any juice that doesn't have too much sugar) so that I can get my sugar fix. I don't do Diet sodas because I think they are nasty. Not a big fan, I have tried them and I just can't get over that yucky taste.

I'm going to start walking our dog with my husband from now on. It wouldn't hurt to get a little more exercise in before I go to bed.

INSANITY

Well finally I decided to get back on to the blogging train. My husband and I decided that we are going once and for all get our work out on.

My sister encouraged me to start a blog based on my weight loss and sometimes weight gain. With this blog I hope that I can help or inspire others with my successes but also with my failures. No one is perfect and I know I'm not either.

I did do this workout for the first month. I lost 15 pounds!!! I felt great. But once the first month ended, we went on vacation and were in "vacation" mode for the month and half that followed. In that month and a half I gained 4 pounds back so right now I am sitting at 170 pounds and that is where I am starting.

My journey is about to begin and I am ready to change my life for myself, for my husband, for our future children. I am scared and I know that it is going to be hard because nothing is ever easy. It wasn't easy the first month that I did this workout but I felt amazing.

Knowing and seeing that my husband is doing this with me. Having him by my side every step of the way is great motivation and support. A support system is crucial in any life changing situation no matter what it is. My husband is amazing and the best person that I know.

So here we go...

****No I am not pregnant nor have I ever been. **** Sadly when I gain weight, I gain it in my mid-section which SUCKS!!!

Here I a side view. (170 lbs.)

(Back)

(Front) The workout program that I am doing is calls Insanity. It is an all cardio program that focuses on interval training. Let me tell you that I HATE cardio with a passion. First off I have a bad knee (left) that I hurt when I fell down some stairs. When I landed at the bottom of the stairway, I landed on both knees but the left one twisted inward.
When I first decided to do this workout, I was scared but as I got into the first month, it wasn't so bad. This workout is 6 days a week with one "off" day and an eating plan. On our "off" days we drink alcohol/beer and only on our off day. It's tough because there are those days that you just want to have a beer or a glass of wine with dinner or going out with friends for Happy Hour.
But it is a sacrifice that I am willing to make for my health, body, soul, husband and future babies.
With this workout you eat 5 times a day. That was very hard for me because I usually only ate 3 times a day, if that. My meals had to be smaller and much healthier.
Here is my menu for Monday:
Breakfast: 1 cup of fruit (strawberries, peaches, pineapple, mango) Dole makes a great mix that is about 4 pounds, in the freezer section at Sam's. (about $7) and light yogurt.
2nd Meal: 1 hard boiled egg, pb & j (1 slice of white/wheat toast, with natural pb, strawberry or grape jelly)
Lunch: Tuna salad (2 cups of romaine lettuce, about 12 cucumber slices, 1/2 of an avocado, 1 hard boiled egg, 1/2 Feta cheese, 1/2 of white albacore tuna in water, 1 lime/lemon or red wine vinegar, 2 Tbsp of vegetable oil or EVOO)
4th Meal: EAS Chocolate Shake
Dinner: 1 Chicken breast, broccoli, bell pepper, carrot, celery cooked with 1 tsp of canola oil, 1 cup of rice.
My husband and I made a rule that we don't eat after 7 pm unless it is our off day and we are out with friends or with family. I get up at 4 am M-F and am in bed by 8:30 pm. On Saturday or Sunday, depending on what day we take off, I get up around 8 am to do my workout. I prefer to work out in the morning because it gives me a lot of energy and I feel much better throughout the day. I have tried to workout at night but I found that I would wake up feeling very sluggish and very tired the next day.
So ladies and gentleman tomorrow my new journey starts and so does my blogging. I will update the blog every Sunday night with pictures of my progress and every day with the workouts and my feelings of how I am doing and how much I despise working out and my excitement of losing weight, what I have eaten and what I shouldn't have eaten or had to drink.
Stay tuned...
