INSANITY

Well finally I decided to get back on to the blogging train. My husband and I decided that we are going once and for all get our work out on.

My sister encouraged me to start a blog based on my weight loss and sometimes weight gain. With this blog I hope that I can help or inspire others with my successes but also with my failures. No one is perfect and I know I'm not either.

I did do this workout for the first month. I lost 15 pounds!!! I felt great. But once the first month ended, we went on vacation and were in "vacation" mode for the month and half that followed. In that month and a half I gained 4 pounds back so right now I am sitting at 170 pounds and that is where I am starting.

My journey is about to begin and I am ready to change my life for myself, for my husband, for our future children. I am scared and I know that it is going to be hard because nothing is ever easy. It wasn't easy the first month that I did this workout but I felt amazing.

Knowing and seeing that my husband is doing this with me. Having him by my side every step of the way is great motivation and support. A support system is crucial in any life changing situation no matter what it is. My husband is amazing and the best person that I know.

So here we go...

****No I am not pregnant nor have I ever been. **** Sadly when I gain weight, I gain it in my mid-section which SUCKS!!!

Here I a side view. (170 lbs.)

(Front) The workout program that I am doing is calls Insanity. It is an all cardio program that focuses on interval training. Let me tell you that I HATE cardio with a passion. First off I have a bad knee (left) that I hurt when I fell down some stairs. When I landed at the bottom of the stairway, I landed on both knees but the left one twisted inward.
When I first decided to do this workout, I was scared but as I got into the first month, it wasn't so bad. This workout is 6 days a week with one "off" day and an eating plan. On our "off" days we drink alcohol/beer and only on our off day. It's tough because there are those days that you just want to have a beer or a glass of wine with dinner or going out with friends for Happy Hour.
But it is a sacrifice that I am willing to make for my health, body, soul, husband and future babies.
With this workout you eat 5 times a day. That was very hard for me because I usually only ate 3 times a day, if that. My meals had to be smaller and much healthier.
Here is my menu for Monday:
Breakfast: 1 cup of fruit (strawberries, peaches, pineapple, mango) Dole makes a great mix that is about 4 pounds, in the freezer section at Sam's. (about $7) and light yogurt.
2nd Meal: 1 hard boiled egg, pb & j (1 slice of white/wheat toast, with natural pb, strawberry or grape jelly)
Lunch: Tuna salad (2 cups of romaine lettuce, about 12 cucumber slices, 1/2 of an avocado, 1 hard boiled egg, 1/2 Feta cheese, 1/2 of white albacore tuna in water, 1 lime/lemon or red wine vinegar, 2 Tbsp of vegetable oil or EVOO)
4th Meal: EAS Chocolate Shake
Dinner: 1 Chicken breast, broccoli, bell pepper, carrot, celery cooked with 1 tsp of canola oil, 1 cup of rice.
My husband and I made a rule that we don't eat after 7 pm unless it is our off day and we are out with friends or with family. I get up at 4 am M-F and am in bed by 8:30 pm. On Saturday or Sunday, depending on what day we take off, I get up around 8 am to do my workout. I prefer to work out in the morning because it gives me a lot of energy and I feel much better throughout the day. I have tried to workout at night but I found that I would wake up feeling very sluggish and very tired the next day.
So ladies and gentleman tomorrow my new journey starts and so does my blogging. I will update the blog every Sunday night with pictures of my progress and every day with the workouts and my feelings of how I am doing and how much I despise working out and my excitement of losing weight, what I have eaten and what I shouldn't have eaten or had to drink.
Stay tuned...
